First, consider potty training your rat. This will confine his waste to a single area of the cage, which can make cleanup a lot easier. Training your rat is easier than you think too! Simply figure out where your critter likes to go potty in the cage and place a litter box there.

Make sure there is plenty of bedding in the cage. Rats like to move their bedding around. If the bottom of the cage is exposed, it can be difficult to scrub when it’s time to clean the cage.
