7:39 PM Is Schiff-Sherrington in Orange Tabby Cats Permanent? |
It’s hard to tell if Schiff-Sherrington syndrome will be permanent in your Orange tabby. Your vet will have to make that call based on your cat’s test results and the severity of the condition. Schiff-Sherrington syndrome affects the spine and is caused by a severed spine or lesions on the lower back. If the spine can be repaired by your vet then a full recovery may be possible. If not, your vet will do his best to alleviate your cat’s pain and discomfort through treatment options. Schiff-Sherrington syndrome can lead to extreme posture defects in the front limbs and the hind limbs. Paralysis, loss of feeling and mobility in the hind legs is possible. Your vet will need to run lab work and possibly CT-Scans or MRIs to determine the extent of your cat’s condition. You will need to talk with your veterinarian Isle of Palms, SC to learn more. |
