Hybrid dogs are also referred to as designer dogs. They are the results of controlled breeding of two purebred dogs. Compared to mutts, hybrid dogs have purebred parents and were deliberately bred to each other to create the desired hybrids that possess the positive traits of two distinct breeds of dogs. However, there is no guarantee that the offspring of breeding two purebred dogs will be the same each time. Not all designer dogs contain 50% of each breed. Only the first generation hybrid offspring are 50/50. There is really no guarantee that the offspring will possess the desired trait. Designer dogs don’t come cheap, being often as expensive as purebreds. In fact, some can be more expensive than their purebred counterparts. If you want to have a hybrid dog, how about first considering dog adoption? There are many hybrid dogs in rescue shelters waiting for somebody to bring them to their forever home. If you really want one from a breeder, make sure you are dealing with a reputable and responsible dog breeder. You can ask your Jacksonville veterinarian for a list of reputable hybrid dog breeders in your area. For more information, check out this link. |
