How to Prevent Eye Injuries in Horses

Eye injuries can be a common occurrence in horses, but these types of injuries should not be taken lightly. If your horse has injured its eye in any way, call your vet Four Oaks, NC immediately. Eye injuries can quickly get out of hand if they are not treated as soon as possible. One of the best ways to fight eye injuries is to practice prevention. Keep sharp objects out of reach of your horse. Avoid sharp edges in or near your horse’s stall. Keep sharp objects, especially sharp parts of the barn’s construction, covered with a protective covering such as duct tape or vet wrap. Replace halters and bridles immediately if a latch or clip breaks. Do not use a halter or bridle with any sharp objects protruding from them. Horse proof the entire barn and turnout area especially in fly season when horses are prone to rub their heads on numerous objects. See details here.
