Gassiness In Cats

Formation of gas is a normal part of the digestive and fermentation processes that take place inside the gastrointestinal tract. However, there are instances when there is excessive production of gas, causing the cat to release gas that is often foul-smelling.  If your kitty seems to “fart” far more than they should, here are some tips to deal with the problem:

  • Keep a close eye on what your cat eats. Drastic change in diet, food allergies, food intolerance and eating food from the garbage bin can pave the way for excessive gassiness in cats. New food should be gradually introduced to prevent digestive upsets. Avoid giving human food and even table scraps to your pet.
  • Garbage and trash bins should be off-limits to your cat. Leftover food should be disposed of properly so your kitty won’t have any access to food that can upset their stomach.

Frequent gassiness can be a result of an underlying health issue that should be brought to the attention of your Vet Rochester, NY.
