Finding a Lost Pet

When your pet cat or dog has gotten lost and you have no idea where to find him, don’t panic. There are many ways you can do to locate your pet as soon as possible. The key is to let as many people and places know about your missing pet, and enlist the help of family and friends to help in the search.

It is always a good idea to have your pets always wear a collar with a tag that contains your name and contact details. Many pet owners have also chosen to have their pets microchipped as a permanent form of identification. If your cat or dog has a microchip, make sure that the contact details you provide to the chip’s company are regularly updated.

Here are some steps to take when your pet goes missing:

  • As soon as you notice that your pet is missing, talk to everyone in the household and search your home carefully.
  • Take a slow ride or walk around your neighborhood and ask friends or neighbors if they’ve seen your pet. Make sure to bring along a clear photo of your cat or dog.
  • Call all the animal control agencies, shelters and rescue groups in your area.
  • Create a “lost pet” flyer and hit the streets.
  • Go online and use email and social media.

You can also ask help from Vancouver veterinary clinics in your area. Check out more at the site of Cambie Animal Hospital
