6:51 PM Exercise and Your Cat |
Your cat needs exercise to stay happy and healthy. It can help keep your cat slim to protect her from some diseases while it provides mental stimulation and a chance for you to bond with your cat. Set aside fifteen to twenty minutes daily for your cat’s exercise sessions. Always use toys to encourage your cat to run around so you don’t accidently get scratched by an overly enthusiastic cat. Use toys that stimulate your cat’s hunting instincts for best results. A ball, laser pointer or fishing rod toy with a feather lure can entice your cat to chase, pounce or jump. Bags and boxes make fine lairs to ambush passing prey such as a squeaky toy. Window perches and higher hiding spaces will encourage your cat to jump up. And catnip could amp up the level of exercise.
