2:49 AM Diet Change for Ragdoll Cats with FeLV |
FeLV or Feline Leukemia Virus is a disease that can affect all breeds of cats including the Ragdoll cat. Talk to your vet Manalapan, NJ about testing your cat for FeLV. If your cat tests positive, you may need to schedule a time to talk with your vet about treatment, medications and long-term care. FeLV can develop anemia, lymphoma or other cancers causing your cat to become susceptible to infections and diseases due to a suppressed immune system. Your vet will most likely suggest a new diet for your cat to help prevent secondary infections. You may need to provide your cat with a nutritional diet that is free of raw meat, eggs and unpasteurized dairy products as these may harbor bacteria and parasites that can lead to infection. In addition, make sure your infected cat eats from her own food bowl and water bowl to reduce the risk of infecting other cats. |
