12:24 PM Diagnosing Gingivitis in Black Labradors |
Bad breath is often the number one sign of gingivitis or other damaging gum diseases in Black Labs and other canines. If your dog is having trouble chewing or eating, give your vet a call and schedule a dental checkup for your pup. Gingivitis involves inflammation, redness and swelling of the gums due to the build-up of plaque, which is food or other debris. Even if you think your Black Lab has gingivitis, you will still need an official diagnosis from your vet before you can start treatment. Never self diagnosis. Always ask your vet first. Your vet will need to examine your dog and review a health and dental history with you to determine the exact diagnosis. Once gingivitis is identified treatment can be prescribed. Treatment may include a professional cleaning and follow up care at home including brushing your pup’s teeth routinely. Talk with your veterinarian Plano, TX to learn more.
