3:21 AM Choking in Himalayan Cats |
Your veterinary clinic North Phoenix, AZ can tell you that choking can be as common in cats as it is in people. If you think your Himalayan cat is choking call your vet right away. Your vet will probably give you over the phone instructions to provide your cat with immediate help. Cats can choke on their toys, a piece of bone, yarn, or anything that they put in their mouth. Signs of choking include pawing at the mouth, drooling, coughing, gagging, panicking, labored breathing, or inability to eat or drink. If possible, check your cat’s throat for any foreign objects. If your cat is too upset for this, wrap her in a towel and take her to the vet right away. If your cat isn’t breathing, your vet may have you open the mouth and pull the tongue forward to see if anything is stuck. Your vet may also tell you how to do the Heimlich maneuver. |
