Cats Hate Spoiled Food

Cats have a very keen sense of smell. If you don’t like the odor of food that has become spoiled, just think what it would smell like to cats. Stale or spoiled food should not be given to cats; it should be disposed of properly because it can also contain substances and harmful microorganisms that can possibly cause disease in cats.

If you’re giving canned cat food to your kitty, make sure to refrigerate it once it’s opened. It can spoil easily if it’s not stored properly. In normal room temperature, canned food can easily spoil when it’s not refrigerated for more than 20 minutes. This is especially true during the hottest months of the year and there is no air conditioning, and when the heater is on during winter.

After opening a can of cat food, use a clean spoon to get just enough of what your pet needs, and transfer what’s left of the canned food into clean containers before storing in the fridge.

Your cat’s diet should be one of the important issues that you should discuss with your Arlington Heights, TX vet during regular wellness visits.
