Sometimes they do it on purpose. Sometimes they don’t.

Sometimes humans take whatever the pet has just said, and in their minds, unintentionally twist it into something that sounds like the human language.

It sounds very odd when a cat or dog “talks”, as their vocal cords are not meant to be used in that manner. Usually, the reason why a pet “talks” is due to their desire to want to imitate how a human speaks.

Without humans even realizing it, cats and dogs watch us just as much as we watch them. For example, if you hand your dog something and it struggles to say “thank you”, it’s likely due to your dog watching you. Your dog sees someone hand something to you, and you say “thank you”, it’s going to try to imitate you.
