It isn’t uncommon for animals to need at least a little grooming. Do hamsters need to be groomed too?

For the most part, hamsters don’t have to be groomed, which is a huge benefit! There’s no need to brush your furry little friend, and he shouldn’t ever need a bath.

However, you may find that your pet’s coat needs a lot more attention if you don’t keep the cage clean. The best thing you can do for your pet’s coat is to make sure that you clean up potty spots every day, and replace all the bedding in the cage at least once a week.

Your pet’s diet matters too! For healthy skin and hair, it’s important to feed your pet a balanced diet of lab block, seeds, nuts, and fresh vegetables.

If your Ocicat has been diagnosed with feline diabetes then you may be required to give her insulin injections or shots as a form of treatment. That may sound a little intimidating, but your vet can show you how to give the shots in a safe and least painful way for your cat. You can also ask your vet if an oral form of insulin is available for your cat. In some Ocicats, blood sugar can be monitored and regulated through oral pills as well as a change in diet and exercise. Glipizide is a common drug prescribed. This is not specifically designed for cats, but is considered effective. Be sure to watch for rare but occasional side effects like vomiting or loss of appetite. Always call your vet right away if your Ocicat has a reaction to any kind of medication. Ask your vet Scottsdale, AZ if this is an option for your Ocicat.

Most dogs love playing fetch, they love retrieving, and they love finding things to chew on. Indoors, that means toys that you purchased at the pet store. Outside, it means sticks. Is it okay for your dog to play with sticks?

You have to be very careful when letting your dog play with sticks. They can injure the inside of your dog’s mouth, and they can even become lodged in your pet’s throat.

Because of these dangers, it’s best not to play a game of fetch with your dog. If you want to let him play with sticks, allow him to find and play with sticks in his own way. If the stick is very small, or if it seems particularly brittle, it’s a good idea to take it away from your pooch.
