Stopping Cat Fights

If you are sharing your home with several cats, you will likely encounter aggression issues every now and then. Specific factors in the environment as well as behavior problems can trigger aggression, possibly causing injuries to the parties concerned.

Here is one way to stop and/or prevent cat fights:

  • Separate the aggressive cat from the rest of the household.  You can place him in a room for about a week, making sure he has plenty of food, water, and a clean litter box. You can visit him every now and then for some interaction and bonding, but he is not allowed out of the room.
  • After a week of being cooped up in the room, place him in a crate and bring the crate into a part of the house where pets and humans congregate. Leave him inside the crate for an hour and allow the other cats to sniff the cage.
  • When the aggressive cat is allowed out of the cage, always keep an eye out for another bout of aggressive behavior. If there is any display of aggression, be quick to put the cat into the crate, leaving him inside for an hour before releasing him again.
  • You may need to repeat this for several weeks, until the aggressive cat is able to behave properly towards the other pets in the household.

You should seek professional help from a veterenarians Temecula if you are dealing with any aggressive behavior of your pet.
