You know that sometimes your dog will need to take some medication. However, your dog has decided that he disagrees, and plans to remain pill-free as long as he can. How can you get him to take his medicine?

Start by evaluating the pill and what you have in your home for food and treats. Many pills can be crushed up and sprinkled onto your dog’s regular food so he doesn’t even know it’s there. Others can easily be hidden among the food in his dish, or given along with a treat. Many treats will allow you to hide the pill within it. Items your dog may love, like peanut butter, can be a great medium to hide medications in. Just be sure to watch your pet carefully to ensure he has in fact consumed the entire pill.
