3:21 AM Moving With Your Kitty - Releasing Your Cat In Your New Home |
Even with adequate preparation and precautions, moving is still a stressful time for your kitty. However, you can help make the transition time smoother by making your pet’s comfort a priority. Once you arrive at your new home, don’t release your kitty until all the movers have left and the home is quiet. You should also check all doors and windows, making sure that they are closed to prevent your kitty from escaping. Cover an open fireplace with screen since there have been cases when frightened cats found the chimney an excellent place to hide in. Place your kitty in a room that you have selected and prepared beforehand. This is where he will stay for several days until things settle down and he is quite familiar with the sights, scents, and sounds of the new place. Make sure that your kitten’s essentials (food and water bowls, kitty bed, and litter box) are placed inside the room. Have your new kitty checked regularly by a Coon Rapids, MN vet.
