Bathing your dog is just part of pet ownership. Unfortunately, bath time isn’t always fun for your furry friend. Here are some ways you can get your dog to enjoy bath time.

Start by helping your dog build a positive association with water. That means, exposing him to water outside of the bathroom. Let your dog play in the sprinkler, squirt him with the hose, or take him to the beach. He’ll start to discover that getting wet isn’t always a bad thing.

If it’s warm outside and your dog needs a bath, consider bathing him outside. If he’s already used to playing in the water outside, the only difference will be taking a break to get sudsed up.

Let your dog play in the tub without getting cleaned too. You can add soap after he gets used to spending time in the tub.
