4:59 AM Epilepsy in Himalayan Rabbits |
Did you know that epilepsy is brain disorder that can occur in people as well as animals? Epilepsy can affect all kinds of animals including rabbits. If you own a rabbit such as the Himalayan then you might want to talk with your vet about epilepsy and things to look for in your rabbit. Typical seizures may cause your rabbit to have sudden and uncontrollable movements or convulsions. Seizures may be recurring and in some cases could cause your rabbit to pass out. Some experts believe epileptic seizures can occur in your rabbit “when neurons in the brain reach a point of ‘hyper excitability’.” Signs of a seizure may be different depending on the cause of the seizure. Common symptoms include rolling of the body, signs of distress, paddling of the limbs, confusion, head tilt, blindness, loss of muscle tone, secretion of creamy fluid or pus from the ears, etc. Talk with your vet Oshawa, ON for more details. |
