The decision to have a dog should not be taken lightly.  It may be so enticing to have a dog as a pet especially if you are taken by a friend’s beautiful and very friendly dog. You want to have one for yourself, too! But before you even ran to the pound or shelter and adopt one, remember that dogs, or any pet for that matter, have needs that pet parents should be willing to provide and attend to.

Being a dog owner requires you to be committed to meeting your pet’s basic needs. You can’t just feed your dog and that’s it!  A pet dog needs to be trained and to undergo socialization so he will become an obedient and desirable member of the household.

Make sure that you devote time for your pet. They are like kids; they need your attention, too. Those very loveable dogs should be showered with much love so that will also able to show love to the people around them. If you find yourself having doubts on whether you can commit or not to the responsibility, then perhaps it is not yet time for you to become a pet owner.
