4:03 AM American Akita |
There are two types of Akita dog breeds; the original Japanese Akita and the now newly identified line of American Akitas. If you’re looking for an original Japanese breed ask your veterinary clinic Ellicott City, MD if they know of a local breeder. You may find one or you may have to stick with the American version. The Akita breed generally has a double coat with the undercoat being thick, soft and dense and the outer coat being longer, straight and somewhat harsh or standing off the body. These dogs come in various colors including white, brindle or pinto. The Akita is docile and gets along well with humans. This breed does; however, need firm training and needs to understand from a young age that he is not pack leader of the human. The Akita gets along great with children and can be well behaved around other pets if trained properly. More details here. |
