3:35 AM Vaccinations and Your Dog |
As a puppy, your dog gets a certain amount of protection from disease while nursing his mother’s milk. However, your dog will need vaccinations to keep him safe throughout his lifetime. Some communities require vaccinations by law so check with your local animal control center to understand your responsibilities. Other vaccinations are recommended because of environmental conditions or your dog’s activities. A number of vaccinations can be given in one shot but others require a series of inoculations. All vaccinations require periodic booster shots to maintain their effectiveness. Do not skip or delay any shots in a series or booster shots or you could put your dog at risk of contracting a disease if he is exposed to it. Your dog may be cranky for a bit after receiving a vaccination. And he may be sore at the injection site. Learn more from your Tampa, FL veterinary clinic.
