12:26 PM Can my Barn Cat Catch Anything from a Horse? |
Some barn owners have a cat living in their barn to reduce the number of mice and other rodents. Barn cats are generally independent and have little to no fear of the horses they are constantly around. Some barn cat owners may be concerned that their cat may catch something from being around the horses. In general, barn cats don’t pay any attention to the horses, but there are a few who do enjoy rubbing up against the horse’s leg, sharing a water bowl, and even taking a nap in the horse’s hay. Although there is no danger of spreading illness, there is the possibility of your cat being physically harmed by the horse since horses are so much larger. You may want to keep a separate feeding and sleeping area for your cat just to be safe. If you’re worried, just give your vet Greenville, SC a call. |
