Why Would my Pomeranian Need NSAIDs?

If your vet has prescribed or recommended your Pomeranian be on a NSAID, make sure you take some time to ask your vet what the medicine is and what it is for. In general, NSAID is an abbreviation for Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. These are often prescribed to help reduce swelling, stiffness, and help with joint pain associated with recent surgical procedures or joint related arthritis. NSAIDs are used by people and animals. Make sure you give your dog the NSAID specifically prescribed for him. Do not self medicate your Pomeranian unless otherwise directed by your vet. Make sure you monitor your pup on the first few days of the medicine to make sure there are no allergic reactions. Signs of a reaction may include behavior changes, changes in appetite, skin redness, vomiting or diarrhea. Call your vet Upper Arlington, OH if your dog has any of these symptoms. Or schedule an appointment today!
