Are you caring for a litter of Labradoodle pups or maybe just one Labradoodle puppy? If so, then you may be wondering when you should wean him from either his mother’s milk or the bottle (if you are raising him yourself). Talk with your vet about a weaning schedule for your little Labradoodle. In general, weaning is when you gradually reduce a puppy’s dependence or access to his mother’s milk and her care. Weaning typically begins at three or four weeks of age and should be complete by the time the puppy reaches seven or eight weeks of age. Experts recommend taking the process gradually to reduce stress and give puppies time to learn behaviors from their mother and fellow puppies. For instance, puppies will learn how to interpret signs of dominance, restrain their own biting habits, and submit to more dominant dogs with their siblings and mother. For more information, talk with your veterinarian Aurora, CO.
