What Types of Fruits and Vegetables Can You Feed an Iguana?

Iguanas can be a lot of fun to feed since they require much more than a basic pellet diet. However, finding the right fruits and vegetables can be difficult.

In general, 25% of your iguana’s diet should consist of vegetables and less than 10% fruit. There are good and bad choices when deciding what to feed your iguana.

Alfalfa, green beans, and snap peas are full of nutrients. Collard greens and even dandelion leaves can be added to your iguana’s diet. Rotate the types of vegetables you feed your iguana to ensure that he gets all of the nutrients he needs.

When it comes to fruit, give your iguana mango and papaya. You can even feed your iguana cactus leaves!

Avoid ice burg lettuce as it doesn’t contain any nutrients that your iguana can use. Rhubarb is poisonous to iguanas and should be avoided at all costs.
