Benefits of Keeping your Dog's Nails Trimmed

A dog’s toenails need regular trimming to maintain the right length. Toenails are prone to problems that can bring pain and suffering to your pooch. A good grooming regimen should include regular toenail trimming.

Some dogs which are engaged in regular physical activities are able to keep their nails trimmed to a suitable length. When toenails are not trimmed properly and regularly, these can split, tear, or break, causing pain and infection.

Toenails can also benefit from a balanced diet to keep them healthy and tough. Toenails that are brittle and easily crack often lack essential nutrients. Some dogs also suffer from an immune function deficiency that can also lead to toenail problems.

A torn nail can cause intense pain for a dog. Without regular trimming, an overgrown toenail can get caught on carpet or fabric, and can easily tear when the dog tries to free it, causing bleeding and pain as a result of the nail being ripped from its base.
