A wire-coated enclosure with a detachable plastic base can make an excellent abode for pet rats. The plastic base is useful in containing litter and waste materials. A multi-level enclosure will give your pet rats lots of opportunities to explore and engage in natural behaviors. But steer clear of very tall cages because mice can fall off and become seriously injured. This can be due to their poor sense of sight. Showering or hosing off your hose in the summer is a great way to keep him cool especially with the temperatures soar. If your horse is sweaty when he comes in at the end of the day, take a few extra minutes to hose him off with cool water. After hosing him off, use a scraper to scrape away excess water. This will help him dry and prevent the water from staying on his hot body and in turn heating up and causing your horse to overheat. If it’s extremely hot during the day, bring your horse into the barn and out of the sun for a few hours. You can also bring him in, shower him, scrape off excess water, and turn him back out. Don’t worry if he rolls, the cool dirt will only further help him cool off. For more tips on keeping your horse cool, give your vets Westminster, MD a call.

If you own a dog, it’s important to remember to keep small objects such as jewelry, small toys, loose change, etc. off of the floor and low tables or counter tops. Dogs love to explore and often explore objects of interest by putting them in their mouth or even trying to swallow them. It can be dangerous if your dog swallows anything not intended for pets. For instance, if your beagle swallows a child size plastic ring or even a cloth pony tail holder, he could be in serious trouble. Signs of danger include lack of appetite, dehydration, and diarrhea that doesn’t go away with regular vet treatment. An x-ray will be needed to identity objects in the stomach. If the objects pass through the stomach they can become stuck in the intestines. Surgery is often required. Call your pet clinic Westminster, MD if you think your dog has swallowed something he shouldn’t have.

Do you have chickens? If so, you’re probably collecting quite a few eggs from the hens. If they’re not laying eggs, make sure you’re feeding them a feed that is for laying hens. This helps increase egg production and strengths the shell of the eggs as well. Once you collect the eggs from your chickens, make sure you wash them and then store them at room temperature. Room temperature will make them last longer. If you’re not sure if the eggs are bad or not, simply fill a bowl of water and place the eggs inside. Good eggs will sink while bad eggs or rotten eggs will float. Throw out any eggs that are floating. To preserve your eggs longer, you can boil them or simply refrigerate them. Eggs in the fridge can last three to five weeks. Contact your vet clinic Mt. Airy, MD to learn more. Or click this here: http://mtairyvets.com/
