Your pet rabbit needs a variety of foods to keep him healthy and happy. Start with high-quality rabbit pellets and add some fresh leafy greens, other crunchy vegetables and some small pieces of fruit for a snack. Your rabbit also needs lots and lots of hay. Hay adds necessary roughage to keep your rabbit’s digestive system running properly. And all that nibbling helps keep his teeth trim. Alfalfa hay has too much protein for adult rabbits so timothy hay makes a better choice. You can purchase small bales of dried timothy hay from reputable pet supply stores. Choose a store with high turnover to ensure that the hay is not stale. You may be able to get fresh timothy hay at a feed store or online. Be generous when offering your rabbit his hay. Discard uneaten hay daily. After a week you can calculate how much hay your rabbit consumes. For more information, contact your Ellicott City, MD veterinarian.

Your dog loves to eat, and he doesn’t really care if he is munching on his own food or yours. This is why he is likely to beg for some of your meal at the dinner table from time to time. He doesn’t understand why sharing isn’t something you regularly do, so he tries to persuade you into thinking it’s a good idea.

Begging can be minimized by teaching your pet that you won’t give in to this behavior. Make sure he is well-fed when you sit down, as this will help him refrain from begging. It will also help you ignore his pleas as you know his needs have already been met. He may begin to beg more when you start doing this, but over time it will lessen. Eventually he will learn that his efforts aren’t being rewarded and he will move on to other activities. For more information, please contact your local Marietta, GA vet clinic.

Adequate physical activity is an important need of pet dogs. However, the exercise needs of dogs vary between breeds, health status, and lifestage. For some, a walk around the block is enough, while there are those that require long walks or runs at least twice a day.

If you are uncertain about how much exercise your pet needs every day, keep a close eye for any sign of fatigue such as slowing down or stopping altogether, heavy panting, lameness, and even disorientation. Outdoor excursions should be made during the cooler parts of the day to prevent heat stress or heat stroke.
