Rabbits need a variety of foods to keep healthy and happy. Start with a high-quality, nutritionally complete rabbit pellet. Add some fresh greens such as Romaine lettuce or spinach. Other vegetables such as carrots and squash add nutrition and help keep your rabbit’s teeth trim. And an occasional piece of fruit such as apples, strawberries or oranges can make a good treat. Your rabbit also needs lots of hay. Alfalfa hay has too much protein for adult rabbits so choose timothy hay instead. Hay keeps your rabbit’s digestive system working properly and all that nibbling keeps the teeth healthy. Dry hay is available from the pet store but you can find fresh hay from feed stores and sometimes online. Remove uneaten food from your rabbit’s enclosure daily so it doesn’t spoil. And make sure your rabbit has access to fresh, clean water at all times. For more information, contact your Conyers, GA veterina ... Read more »

Your pet rabbit needs a variety of foods to keep healthy and happy. Include a high-quality rabbit pellet, fresh greens, crunchy vegetables and an occasional piece of fruit as a treat. Your rabbit also needs lots and lots of hay. Hay helps keep your bunny’s digestive system working efficiently and all that nibbling keeps his teeth trimmed to the right length. Alfalfa hay has too much protein for adult rabbits so timothy hay is the best choice for your rabbit. You can buy small bales of timothy hay at your pet supply store. You may be able to find fresh timothy hay from a feed store or online. This fresh hay is yummy and adds extra moisture to your rabbit’s diet. Be generous with the amount of hay you give your rabbit. Discard old hay daily especially any that is soiled. Learn more from your vets Westminster, CO.

Catnip is an herb that can cause a euphoric reaction in your cat and cause her to roll around, drool and run around like crazy. Half of all cats will react to this herb and if your cat is one of the lucky ones, you are in for a treat. Kittens won’t react until they get a little older. Your cat will sniff the catnip rather than eat it so you can put it in a container, toy or blanket. Your cat will go crazy from the catnip for about 15 or 20 minutes so take it away from her then. You can give it back about an hour later for the hijinks to begin again. Keep your catnip fresh in a sealable bag. You can freeze any extra for use at a later time. Replace any stale catnip for best results. Contact your Westminster, CO vet to learn more. Or visit this homepage.

Teaching your dog to sit on command is a good start to obedience training. This gives you a way to get him under control quickly and is often the beginning position for a number of other commands. Start by getting down to your dog’s level. Hold a treat in front of his nose to get his attention. Raise the treat up and over your dog’s head so he needs to lower his rear end to keep following the treat. Say your dog’s name followed by the SIT command. As soon his rear end touches the floor, give him a treat and lots of praise. Practice this often and as your dog becomes more reliable, delay giving him a treat after the touchdown. Gradually start phasing out the treats so your dog learns to sit by your command alone. Be patient and use kindness throughout the training process.
