You probably take your dog for a walk and play with your cat, but what about your turtle? Do turtles need exercise?

You won’t be exercising your turtle like you would a cat or a dog, but they definitely need exercise! The easiest way to make sure your pet stays active is to provide him with plenty of interesting things to do in his cage. Providing him with an area where he can swim, and place items in his cage that he can climb on.

Leaving your turtle in his cage isn’t enough. He needs to come out and play to get a little exercise too! He’ll appreciate being able to run around on the carpet, but if you really want to go above and beyond, provide him with his own wading pool! You can use a plastic kiddie pool or you can put some water in the bathtub.

There are few tools in your home that are better for cleaning than the vacuum. You can use it to suck cat hair out of the carpet, you can use the attachments to clean furniture, and more. Did you know that your vacuum needs cleaning too? This is especially true if you have a cat around!

Cat hair can quickly clog up your vacuum. To keep this from happening, make sure you change the bag or empty the canister after every use.

Your vacuum will need a deeper cleaning every few weeks to every month or so.
Clean out the tubes, especially where they connect to the vacuum as that’s where cat hair is most likely to collect. You should also clean or change the filters regularly.

Don’t forget to remove the cat hair from the brush! Your vet Oshawa, ON can provide you additional advice.

Your dog is a big part of your life, and you look forward to the time you get to spend with her each and every day. Your walks in the sunshine are particularly enjoyable. However, you know that there will be times when you will need to walk her in the evening or early morning as well, and these times will likely bring darkness along with them.

To keep safe during low-light times of day, make an effort to plan for your walk ahead of time. Choose an area to walk that is well-lit and reasonably away from traffic. Bring along a flashlight to light your way, and be sure to adorn reflective clothing. You can also place reflective or light-up items on your pet to ensure passing traffic and other walkers will see him. For more information, please contact your local Oconomowoc, WI vet.

Your pet means the world to you, and you want to make sure you are able to give her everything she needs. You know that food is an important part of this, so you want to make sure you have plenty of her favorites on hand.

To stock up on food, consider what your pet eats in a typical week. Look ahead, and try to determine if she will be sticking with the same food for the near future. If so, take a look at the space available in your home. Consider how much of her current food will be able to fit there, and how much you can afford to purchase. Be sure that your pet will finish the food you purchase before its expiration date as well so it doesn’t go to waste. For more information, please contact your local Georgetown, IN vet.

Diabetes is a condition where the body doesn’t produce enough insulin to manage blood sugar or the insulin is not used efficiently. This condition can occur in cats and more commonly in obese cats so it is best to keep your cat slim. Diabetes symptoms include both increased thirst and urination which can lead to weight loss, vomiting, lethargy and if untreated, death. Thus if your cat exhibits these symptoms, seek medical attention promptly. Blood and urine tests can be used to diagnosis diabetes. There is no cure for diabetes but it is a manageable condition. Diet can control some cases of diabetes but many cats require regular insulin injections. You will need to return for additional testing to check blood sugar levels. Pay special attention to any infections or nerve disorders since these could indicate your cat’s diabetes is not well managed and the secondary issues could get worse quickly. Dogs can definitely get carsick, but that doesn’t mean your dog is having this problem, even if he is getting sick in the car. Instead, your pooch could simply be anxious. How do you tell the difference?

Although it is true that a dog that is anxious about being in the car and a dog that is carsick will both get physically sick in the car, when your dog starts feeling sick is very different in each instance. If he’s truly carsick, he won’t get sick until you’ve been driving. A dog that is anxious will begin salivating as he’s getting into the car.

If you suspect that your dog is carsick, you can try giving him a little Dramamine. If it stops your dog from getting sick, he’s truly carsick. If he is still drooly, he’s anxious.
