Love and bonding with your dog truly comes down to a matter of what you put into the relationship, you will get out of it. If you treat your dog as a guard device or something that lives in the backyard alone, he will not warm up to you and he will be unhappy too. Work to include your dog in family activities so everyone thinks of him as part of the family. Train your dog in basic obedience so he knows what he should do and also what he shouldn’t do. Never punish your dog for misbehavior. Reward him for good behavior instead. Get to know your dog’s moods and preferences. Play with your dog and make sure he gets enough exercise. Make him feel safe and protected under your care. In other words, love your dog and he’ll love you back. Contact your Omaha, NE vet to learn more.

Some cats are especially attracted to their owner’s or neighbor’s garden for their potty needs. This can be a problem especially if one is trying to grow a vegetable garden. Also, newly-grown plants can be trampled on by cats. Cat owners can also get in hot water with their neighbors because of their pets’ behavior.

Ways to keep cats away from gardens

  • Some plants repel cats because they emit a scent that cats hate. Plant these around your garden to keep out any cat.
  • Install sprinklers with timers so the garden soil is kept wet and unappealing to your kitty. There are also motion-activated sprinklers that you can use for this purpose. Cats hate walking on wet or muddy soil, and the addition of sprinklers will certainly make the garden more uninviting to them since they hate to get wet.

Canine eye injuries can be a common occurrence especially in smaller breeds such as the Yorkshire Terrier. If your Yorkie appears to have a swollen or injured eye, please contact your vet right away. In rare cases, your Yorkie’s injured eye may actually appear to be popping out the socket. This usually happens due to pressure build up behind the eye caused by an injury, trauma to the head, or other causes. The eye  may even come out of the socket in severe injuries. If this happens, call the vet. Then, cover the eye with a damp, clean cloth and hold it in place with a loosely wrapped bandage around the head. If possible, soak the cloth in warm, salty water to help preserve the eye. If possible, your veterinary clinic Frisco, TX staff may recommend that you go to an emergency veterinary ophthalmologist or veterinary hospital for treatment.
