Mouth rot can be a common health condition in a variety of reptiles including lizards and iguanas. Mouth rot, also known as necrotic stomatitis, is the presence of inflammation in the mouth or the oral cavity of your Bearded Dragon. The condition generally appears as small hemorrhages on the gums or as excessive amounts of mucus in the mouth that may contain blood or pus. Lesions and hemorrhages could also appear on the inside edge of the Bearded Dragon’s lip area. When mouth rot occurs your Bearded Dragon may have a severely swollen mouth and may appear to be breathing through his mouth. In most cases mouth rot occurs as a secondary condition of another illness or injury including poor nutrition, stress, improper environmental temperatures or overcrowding. Your rabbit’s feet are so tiny that it’s easy to overlook them, but they require your attention too! Here’s how to care for your hamster’s feet.

First, be smart about the toys and accessories you purchase for your furry friend. Avoid running wheels with metal bars. They can catch your hamster’s feet while he’s running, causing a twisted ankle or worse. You should also look for running balls with very small slots for ventilation. The holes shouldn’t be big enough for your hamster’s tiny nail or toe to get caught.

To keep your hamster’s nails neat and trim, consider placing a rough stone underneath his water bottle. Because hamster nails are so tiny, it’s not a good idea to try and clip them.
