Dogs can be affectionate when they want to be, and licking you is one of their best ways to show it.

When a dog licks you, it is essentially saying “I love you”, but sometimes a dog may even lick you to “clean” you, although the former is the more likely of the two.

Now of course, there are many people who don’t like being licked. They think it is repulsive.

However, seeing as this is one of the only ways a dog can express its love and affection, you’re basically telling your dog not to love you by not letting it lick you at least once in a while.

So, consider how your dog feels if you decide not to let it lick you. It might even feel hurt, although most times, it’s just a tad confused.

Dogs are miniature miracles when it comes to their retention abilities.

If you command your dog (and are successful in teaching it) to hold it until it gets outside, then your dog can go an awfully long time before it can’t hold it in any longer.

A lot of people do not seem to realize that we humans have influenced dogs for so many generations that some of the commands we taught their ancestors have become a genetic thing now.

Dogs have evolved to be able to hold it for long periods of time…but you still come across those odd dogs that really can’t hold it. (Lapdogs and such)

Always make sure that your dog is always within range of a spot to urinate at.
