Your homeowner’s insurance doesn’t cover exotic pets of any sort. An exotic pet requires a separate liability insurance.

Through obtaining the permit for your exotic pet, you will also be forced to take out liability insurance on your pet prior to the permit being issued.

Liability insurance is coverage for your exotic pet should your pet attack and harm another person or animal.

If the insurance carrier that provides your home insurance finds out that you now have a liability on the premises, they may cancel your homeowner’s insurance.

Having or possessing a potentially dangerous animal on your premises is considered a liability. You are increasing the danger to other people or pets that may be injured due to this liability.

The homeowner’s insurance carrier will see this liability as an increase for risk of being sued.

You had no idea (when you got your puppy/dog) that having one would actually be work!

Daily routines of walks, picking up stools, feedings, the excessive barking, chewing on everything…you really were not prepared for all of this.

So, you have decided you do not want to keep your dog. What do you do now?

Taking your dog for a drive and abandoning it at the side of the road is really not a responsible option.

Talk to friends or family to see if anyone would be interested in taking your dog. Place ads online and in your local newspaper.

It is your responsibility to find your dog a new home. It does deserve that much, at least.
